STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -
One man has been arrested, and another is being sought in a robbery and assault at a Statesville home, according to the Statesville Police Department.
On Thursday night Statesville Police officers responded to a report of a home invasion robbery at a home on Caldwell Street.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported that an acquaintance, Justin Eugene Alexander, came to his door and asked to come inside and use the restroom.
The victim let Alexander into the house, and another person came in behind him wearing a ski mask and armed with a shotgun pointed at the victim, the report states.
The victim told police that he then began fighting with the armed suspect, pushing the shotgun up toward the ceiling. During this time, Alexander began going through another resident's pockets in the home looking for money.
Alexander then turned to the victim, who was fighting with the armed suspect, and began punching and kicking him.
The duo then left the area running South on Caldwell Street, police said.
Officers broadcasted a detailed description of Alexander to other offices in the area, and a few minutes later he was found walking on 4th Street at Durham Avenue, where he was detained.
The victim identified Alexander, who was then arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery and assault.
Alexander was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center on a $75,000 secured bond.
Police told WBTV the investigation is ongoing, and attempts are being made to identify the second suspect who was armed with a shotgun.
