IREDELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man they say assaulted a woman and a young child.

On Monday February 25, a call came into the Iredell County Emergency Communications Center in reference to an assault which had taken place on Island Sycamore Drive.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim who stated she had been assaulted and burned with a cigarette by a man later identified as Rico Lamonte Torrence, 29. Torrence then knocked a 3 year old child out of her arms, the report states.

Deputies said the victim had visible injuries.

Torrence, deputies said, had left the scene before they arrived. Warrants were secured for the assault on a female and assault on a child under 12 years of age.

Detectives then met with the victim and obtained a statement from her, and her injures were documented.

After further investigation, detectives found that Torrence had been convicted for two prior assaults on a female.  They were then able to draw an additional warrant on him for habitual misdemeanor assault.

At this time, Torrence is wanted on three outstanding warrants.

If anyone has information on where he can be located please call 911, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office at (704)878-3100, or Iredell Statesville Crime Stoppers (704) 662-1340.
