CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested two men they say are responsible for an armed robbery at a local business.
Odell Mychal Smallwood, DOB: 02/17/1982, and Jamal William Howard, DOB: 03/19/1983, for their involvement in an armed robbery case.
On Wednesday, March 6, at approximately 8 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a robbery in progress call for service at PLS Check Cashing on North Tryon Street after employees called 911 and stated they were just robbed at gunpoint, the report states.
Officers said they immediately arrived at the location and saw a man behind the business appearing to stuff a gun in his pocket. An officer exited his vehicle and ordered the man to get on the ground.
The individual ran and the officer chased him on foot before he was apprehended a short time later by responding officers, police told WBTV.
The victims positively identified the man, later identified as Odell Mychal Smallwood, 31, as one of the men involved in the robbery.
Smallwood was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, resisting public officer, possession of a firearm by a felon, and first degree kidnapping, related to moving the victims against their will at gunpoint inside the location.
Additionally, information and evidence gathered during the investigation identified Jamal William Howard, 29, as the second man involved in the robbery.
Howard was arrested later at his place of employment and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and kidnapping.
