Snow in northeast snarls local travel

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Heading to the Northeast on a day like this for local travelers means playing what could be called a case of travel roulette.

At Charlotte Douglas International, it is a case of both winners and losers.

Lots of red signs lit up the arrival and departures boards with the words canceled.

New York, Newark, Washington, DC, and Baltimore were all among the city's where there was no service or limited take offs and landings.

Major problems there do trickle down and create a number of inconveniences at our airport.

Reggie Carson of Charlotte has a meeting in New York and his departure was on the bubble.

" I'm actually not due up there until tomorrow, "he said. " I knew with the snow coming, I would try to go up there a day early and try to beat it. We'll see what happens."

Many of those passengers were rerouted to later flights since a number of airports were scheduled to resume operations before the day is over.

Before heading to the airport it is wise to either call ahead or check the web site of the airline where your travel is booked.
