GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) -

Three pets were killed and a house was completely destroyed in a fire Wednesday morning, according to the Gastonia Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the house fire, on West Airline Avenue, around 10 a.m.

The initial 911 call reported the fire could be seen three blocks away, officials said.

When firefighters arrived on scene the house was heavily involved in fire. Firefighters were able to knock down the flames in about 10 minutes.

Officials said the damage to the small house was too much, and is considered a total loss. The house had an estimated value of $28,000.

Two brothers and several pets lived in the home. Three pets perished in the blaze, and two survived.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
