The road to Fossil Creek will be closed on Monday for about two weeks, a Coconino National Forest official said.
Forest Road 708, the road from state Route 260 near Camp Verde, will undergo routine maintenance, according to Forest Public Affairs Officer Brady Smith.
Visitors will only be able to access the area by hiking.
Forest Road 708 from the Strawberry side is also closed a half-mile west of the entrance to Upper Fossil Springs Trailhead, extending west and down the canyon to immediately east of the Waterfall Trailhead, Smith said.
The closure from Strawberry is required to find solutions and conduct repairs for ongoing rock slides along the road and will be in force until at least April 15, Smith said.
