KANNAPOLIS, NC (WBTV) -
Investigators in Kannapolis are working to figure out what caused a fire at a local fast food restaurant.
Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, Kannapolis Firefighters responded to a working fire at the Burger King on North Cannon Boulevard.
Initial calls from inside the building said that smoke was coming from a bathroom, filling up the dining area, the report states.
Officials say that when units arrived on scene, within two minutes, they found moderate smoke coming from the roof of the restaurant.
Firefighters gained access to the roof to locate and extinguish the spreading fire while other crews ensured that everyone was out of the building.
Landis Fire Department and Odell Volunteer Fire Department provided district coverage while KFD units were committed on scene. Rowan County EMS was also on scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
