New offering extends the company’s SharePoint product suite to include secure mobile collaboration
Nashua, NH (PRWEB) March 04, 2013
The explosion of bring-your-own device (BYOD) policies in companies offers the promise of increased productivity for contributors and managers. HiSoftware, a leading provider of compliance and security solutions for SharePoint, today at SPTechCon in San Francisco announced the release of HiSoftware Sheriff Workspace™ Mobil e and Windows, extending the company’s SharePoint solutions suite to bring secure collaboration on iPads and other mobile devices.
Gartner predicts that 80 percent of businesses will support tablet computers, like the iPad, across their enterprise in 2013. With SharePoint rapidly becoming the collaborative content management system of choice, it is inevitable that SharePoint content will appear on iPads. No matter the access point for enterprise content, it must remain secure and accessible only to authorized personnel. HiSoftware Sheriff Workspace Mobile and Windows control the distribution of and access to confidential SharePoint documents accessed via iPads and laptops. Users can work online or offline and all of their activities are tracked and stored in the audit trail. Policy officers can see if and when a confidential document has been read or emailed, and by whom, in the event of a breach or a regulatory audit.
“We are excited about our new secure workspace collaboration solutions for laptops and the iPad to support BYOD strategies, a growing business trend in 2013,” said Kurt Mueffelmann, president and CEO, HiSoftware Inc. “The new HiSoftware Sheriff Workspace solutions allow us to offer the same content security capabilities we provide in traditional SharePoint implementations to mobile users, allowing organizations to mitigate mobile risk more effectively without hindering collaboration and at the same time maximize their SharePoint investment."
Extends Security Controls and Rules in SharePoint to Mobile Devices
HiSoftware Sheriff Workspace Mobile and Windows monitor users accessing SharePoint documents from their iPads and laptops to prevent the unauthorized distribution of SharePoint documents and damaging information breaches. The products leverage the policies and rules defined in HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff SP and HiSoftware Security Sheriff SP to extend the controls to content accessed from mobile devices. They can be used to:
