Saturday evening fire displaces occupants


A fire Saturday evening in Charlotte has left occupants displaced. 

The Charlotte Fire Department responded to the 200 block of Mattoon Street on Saturday around 4:35 PM for a fire alarm.

Once on scene they found visible smoke and flames. 

The occupants who live in the 1 story structure were able to escape without injury. 

It took 27 firefighters about 10 minutes to control the fire. 

The Red Cross is working with the displaced people to assess their needs and provide assistance for food and shelter. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
