CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A fundraiser was held Saturday in South Charlotte to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis.

The Wares family were kicking off the grand opening of their new restaurant by holding a fundraiser in the process.

"Our young daughter, Vivian, has Cystic Fibrosis and this disease has changed all our lives."

The Wares called the event'"Fueling the Fun and adding Tomorrows."

Their daughter Vivian who 6 years old is suffering from the disease, which is a genetic disorder which affects most critically the lungs, and also the pancreas, liver, and intestine.

Vivian's parents Sally and Chris have been so inspired by their daughters fight that they wanted to join in.

The fundraiser will benefit Team Vivi, the foundation named after their daughter, which will benefit Vivian and other children so that they may have a chance at more birthdays.

The wares are donating $1 for every child that completed a lap Saturday at the Ballantyne Elementary School during the event.

The new business venture being undertaking by Vivian's father is so he can have more time to spend with his daughter.

Sally Wares says," Vivian is a vibrant six-year old who has taken this disease in stride."

Inspired by her daughters strength and fight Vivian's mother Sally is going back to school for her nursing degree.

All the money raised for Team Vivi will go towards continued research in hopes of finding a cure.
