America I Am Exhibit Ends On Sunday

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Sunday is the last day to catch the "America I am" in Center City Charlotte.

It is a special collection of African American Artifacts that has everything from Muhammad Ali's Robe to the very outfits worn by Motown performers.

It has been quite a success.

Since opening this past June the America I am Exhibit has been the biggest draws in the history of the Gantt Center.

Staffers here at the Gantt say that they've seen more than 25 thousand visitors for this particular display of what some call African Americana.

Helping those big numbers is the fact that CMS sponsored tours for 10 thousand seventh grade students.

It was supposed to have left town on back and December and was held over through the end of the CIAA tournament.

Charlotte was the last stop on the nationwide tour.

The exhibit was the brain child of Tavis Smiley and sponsored by Walmart.
