A fatal crash closed westbound Interstate 10 from 35th to 43rd Avenue, the third crash on the freeway in three days that caused headaches for early morning commuters.
However, Friday's crash was cleaned up quickly and traffic resumed on the stretch of freeway shortly after 6 a.m.
The crash involved three vehicles and happened just before 3 a.m. Friday, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. All westbound traffic was being diverted off the freeway at 35th Avenue.
The closure lasted several hours and only affected westbound traffic. All eastbound lanes of I-10 were open.
On Wednesday, a tractor-trailer spill at the I-10 split with I-17 caused lengthy delays and closed all but one eastbound lane of I-10.
A fiery tractor-trailer crash Thursday that killed the truck's driver closed east and westbound traffic on I-10 on the Broadway Curve for several hours.
