Sequester deadline; Counter-proposal to BofA Stadium renovations

Good morning, it's the first day of March! This is Christine Nelson. I'm at my desk right now writing you a quick email on the stories we're covering when you turn on WBTV News This Morning. Remember we start at 4:30 a.m. and we're live until 7.

The deadline is hours away now. I'm talking about the sequestration cuts. It's been all the talk whether lawmakers would come up with a plan in the 11th hour. Doesn't look like that is going to happen. So, what time will these cuts take affect? Who, in our area, will be immediately impacted? We'll answer those questions this morning.

There is a counter-proposal from a state lawmaker on how to pay for upgrading Bank of America Stadium. But it will leave the city millions of dollars shy of what they wanted to give to Carolina Panthers. Will Mayor Anthony Foxx agree to this new version, or will a city tax hike remain to fund it? WBTV's Cam Man Ron Lee breaks it down in a live report.

Plus, every hear of orienteering? Once a military-style exercise, families are now taking part. WBTV's Astrid Martinez has this all new story for the morning show to tell you what it's all about.

We're on your side setting up a phone bank this morning to provide you free (yes FREE!) legal information. Our phone bank will be set up in the newsroom and phone lines will open at 7 a.m. We'll have more details on how you can call in.

Can't catch the CIAA tournament in person?? We'll also tell you where you can watch each game of the tournament live.

Gotta go!

Christine
