A former Panthers star appeared Thursday night on WBTV News at 10:00pm on MyTV 12. He filled-in for Delano Little, doing the sportscast live.
Well, sort-of.
Delano actually gave Kevin Donnalley a run-through for about an hour beforehand, teaching him the tricks of live TV. Kevin then did the sportscast, his first time ever giving the highlights rather than being a part of them.
Why?
It has to do with a great cause.
Last year at a charity auction, Kevin won "doing the sports live on WBTV 10:pm Newscast". He outbid everyone. All the money he donated went to "The March Forth with Hope" Foundation (of which Kevin is a board member).
The March Forth with Hope Foundation helps the families of local kids with uphill medical battles. It was established in the name and spirit of Hope Stout, a 12-year-old Weddington girl who was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2003. She lost her fight in 2004, but not before starting a mission to help others just like her. Hope's parents, Stuart and Shelby Stout, keep that mission alive by giving thousands of dollars every year in grant money to those in need, all through the Foundation established in their daughter's name.
This year's annual "Celebration of Hope" fundraising gala is March 9th. It's at the Ballantyne Hotel and has a "Masquerade Ball" theme.
There are still tickets available. Go to www.marchforthwithhope.org for more information or to buy them.
