The American Red Cross introduced its new disaster response committee to kick off Red Cross Month.
After the devastating tornadoes of March 2, 2012, Red Cross released the organization's one-year report on the Red Cross response to the disaster. Red Cross also introduced a new committee created to plan for long-term recovery that would help deal with similar future disasters.
The Tri-State Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) was introduced by the Red Cross on Thursday. COAD aims to bring local community organizations together to plan for long-term recovery.
Currently, COAD consists of 195 organizations and over 270 people.
Through organization of the COAD, Red Cross hopes to ensure that communities will have assistance and recovery methods needed in times of disaster.
