SWAT team responds to York Co. domestic violence call

YORK COUNTY, SC (WBTV) -

The York County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was called after a man was said to have barricaded himself in his home with firearms, according to deputies.

The incident began on Thursday, February 28, when deputies were called to a home on Carolina Downs in York in reference to a domestic violence complaint.

Officials said they received word that Dieter Karl Schaftner, 60, might be armed and had barricaded himself in the home. As a result, the SWAT team was called to the scene.

Schaftner was taken into custody and charged with first degree criminal domestic violence.
