It's official...Charlotte now has a new city manager.  City Council has approved the hiring of Ron Carlee...a C-O-O and the former county manager of Arlington County, Virginia.  He'll be paid 290 thousand dollars a year...that figure includes benefits.

This is a huge day in sports for Charlotte...the CIAA basketball tournament kicks off today at Time Warner Cable Arena.   Thousands of people will be headed to uptown for the games and other activities associated with the tournament.  The first women's game is today at eleven...the first men's game tips off at seven tonight.

An Egyptian security official says at least 19 foreign tourists were killed as their hot air balloon crashed near the famed ancient city of Luxor.  The official says there was a fire and an explosion and that the balloon then plunged from the sky.

A UNC-Chapel Hill student says she is unfairly being targeted by the university...after speaking out about being a victim of rape.

Governor Pat McCrory says he supports putting distinctive marks on drivers licenses issued to some illegal immigrants.
