CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
Keith Christmas, yes that's his real name, broke a store front window when he was a mischievous 14-year-old in New York. The store's owner found out it was him and worked out a deal with Keith's father to let him pay to replace the window by working in the store. It was a hat store. Keith instantly fell in love.
"I could find you a hat that would be the shape of your head, same cut, same color and it would be perfect for you. I love that," said Christmas, referring to the great feeling he gets finding a customer the perfect hat.
He opened Alexander Hats in Uptown Charlotte years later after retiring from his career with Toyota. He now sells custom as well as pre-made hats for men and women.
When we found him Monday afternoon, he was of course, wearing a hat. "I go get the mail in a hat."
Christmas says he loves to work for himself and finds ample time to spend with his family now as his own boss. For more information about Keith and his store, check out http://alexanderhats.com/
