** SCRIPT UPDATED TO INCLUDE SUNDAY'S WIN OVER LA SALLE**
The Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team has been making noise lately, riding a 11-game win streak with 2 games left in the regular season.
With Sunday's win over La Salle, that 11th straight win ties the programs winning streak. The 49ers last won 11-straight in 1981.
Marshville's (Union County) Jennifer Hailey, a 3-time Atlantic-10 player, notched her 12th straight double-double in the win.
Hailey, a senior who hopes to one day play in the WNBA or in Europe, is tearing up the record books.
Hailey recently set the schools new career blocks record with more than 200, she also has more than 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 points in her 49ers career.
But of course, accolades aside, she's just exited about this season, "we have been doing the right things that Coach wants us to do in practice and on the court. I am pleased with how we are playing, we are playing very good basketball right now."
Head Coach Cara Consuegra: "Hailey can affect the game both offensively and defensively for us. That is what makes her such a special talent. There is so many ways she can affect what we do, and also the opponents game plan".
The 49ers next play at Halton Arena on Thursday, against VCU.
