Stephon Washington, 24 Stephon Washington, 24

A man was arrested for a shooting at a local gas station that left a bystander seriously injured, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Saturday around 2:45 a.m., police responded to a call of shots fired at the Shell gas station on Freedom Drive.

Once on scene, police discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck, officials said. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.

The initial investigation revealed that two men had been arguing, and that the argument escalated until shots were fired, one of which hit the victim.

The two men were seen driving off in their vehicles by a business surveillance camera.

After conducting their investigation, officers arrested Stephon Washington, 24, on Sunday for Discharging a Firearm within City Limits.

Washington was taken to police headquarters for questioning, and admitted to firing at an unknown male whom he had gotten into an argument with at a nearby club, the report states.

The weapon Washington used was recovered by detectives.

Homicide and ADW Detectives are still seeking the second man involved in the shooting.
