This year's flu vaccine has left many seniors unprotected against the most common and dangerous flu strain that is causing most of the illnesses this year.
Preliminary numbers indicate older folks are protected from that strain only 9% of the time.
Experts will tell say that young people are always better protected than seniors by the vaccine.
However, they're a little confused by these preliminary results for this flu season.
They call the numbers disappointing and they say this shows we need a better vaccine.
For all age groups the flu vaccine did it's job 56 percent of the time.
Flu season started early this year and we're told the worst of it is over.
