Deputies: Wanted man found hiding under clothes gets 17 charges

BURKE COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

A Burke County man wanted on several charges was arrested after deputies found him hiding under a pile of clothes, according to the Burke County Sheriff's Office.

Ronald Lee Staten, of Morganton was a wanted fugitive with warrants for arrest in both Burke and Rutherford Counties since November of 2011.

On February 21, deputies learned that Staten was renting a home on Green Haven Circle in Morganton. Officials went to the home, and found Staten hiding in a bed room under a large pile of clothes, the report states.

Staten was arrested and charged with five counts I court order review, three counts each of breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of stolen goods, one count each of felony probation violation and habitual felon, and failure to appear.

He was taken to the Burke County Detention Facility and placed under an $80,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to be in court on March 18 in Burke County, and June 3 in Rutherford County.
