Many college football teams will be starting spring practice in the next few weeks.
Former Georgia quarterback Mike Cavan gave an update on the Bulldogs football program to the Rotary Club here in Albany Thursday.
Cavan, who works as a fundraiser and serves other roles for the University, says the offseason workouts are generally the most important part of the year for a football player.
When the Bulldogs start spring football, they will have 13 true freshmen on the practice field.
those players graduated early to enroll in college.
A trend that many schools are starting to encourage eligible recruits to consider.
"That is like having a full class. then come summer we will have 25 more new guys come in as true freshmen. we are getting a big jump on that. I think it will be good for us. we are working out. getting ready for spring practice. getting stronger, faster. whatever they can do to enhance them to become a better football player," said Mike Cavan.
Georgia will open spring practice on March 2.
The G-Day game is 1:00 p.m. on April 6.
