NEWTON, NC (WBTV) -
Jason Phelps has resigned today as head football coach at Fred T. Foard.
Phelps came to Foard back in 2011 and in 2 seasons compiled a record of 5-15.
The Tigers finished in last in the Northwestern Conference last season as they went 0-6 in conference play. The year before, they went 2-4 with one of those wins coming via forfeit from Hickory.
Since 2000, the Fred T. Foard program has only had 3 winning seasons (2000, 2006, 2008).
Phelps is an alum of Watauga High School who currently has an opening at the head coaching position as well in football.
