Threat via Twitter forces short lock down at high school

A Rock Hill area high school was placed on lock down for a short time on Wednesday afternoon after a violent threat was made via a social networking site.

According to school officials, South Pointe High School was placed on lock down on Wednesday afternoon for about ten minutes.

Elaine Baker, Director of Information Services for Rock Hill Schools, told WBTV that a threat was made on social media stating that there would be a shooting after school.

The school's resource officer called police to the school. 

The lock down, which happened near the end of the school day, only lasted around ten minutes and students were released for the day at 3:40 pm, according to their normal schedule.
