Former Clemson Tiger Da'Quan Bowers was arrested in New York on a weapons charge, according to a report from NBCSports.com.
Bowers, the former standout defensive end from Bamberg, was arrested at LaGuardia Airport after police found a loaded .40 caliber handgun in his bag.
The current Tampa Bay Buccaneer was attempting to board a flight to Raleigh, N.C. when he was arrested.
Bowers stands charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
At Clemson, Bowers received the Bronko Nagurski Trophy for best defensive player in the nation in 2010. He was drafted by the Buccaneers in the second round as the 51st pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
