Country singer's suicide; Rebound from weekend snow

Good morning! It's Monday February 18. Hope you're coming off a great weekend. This is Christine Nelson writing you this email from my desk in the newsroom. This is a first look at what's happening and what we'll be covering when you turn on WBTV News This Morning. We're on until 7 a.m.

State of the State address tonight

Governor Pat McCrory will be delivering his first State of the State address since taking office. It begins at 7 p.m. in Raleigh. We already know some of the topics he's likely to talk about including unemployment benefits and rejecting Medicaid expansion for a half million North Carolina residents.

Division over police patrols

Things got heated for officials in Indian Trail and the exchange was caught as our cameras were rolling. It's all over whether the town should form its own police force and it all came down to one deciding vote. We have the results.

Country singer found dead

Most of her years in the spotlight were about her battle with drugs and mental illness. Last night, the country music world was shocked by country singer Mindy McCready's suicide. We have details on what police in Arkansas say happened.

Did you enjoy the snow over the weekend? We have the totals of exactly how much fell and a look ahead to how the weather will rebound in your 7-day first alert forecast.

See you on the air!

Christine
