UC's @PrezOno nominated for Shorty Award

(FOX19) -

Chances are if you're a Cincinnati Bearcats fan - You've heard of President Santa Ono.

He's among a small crowd of University presidents to take on social media, with over 14,000 followers and nearly 15,000 tweets. He's a 'huge Bearcat fan', and coined the popular University of Cincinnati Twitter trend - #HottestCollegeinAmerica.

Now, he's up for a Shorty Award.

The Shorty Awards honor the best content producers in social media, including Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, Foursquare and more.

During an interview for the award, when asked who he wished had a Twitter account but didn't, he said Albert Einstein. When asked what inspires him to tweet, he replied, "To tell the world how awesome University of Cincinnati is and to connect with the @UofCincy community."

Ono is currently in second place in the education division, with voting extended until February 18th.

The 5th annual Shorty Awards ceremony will take place on April 8th in New York City.
