Restaurant robbers steal from customers

Two armed men, working in tandem, are not only robbing fast-food restaurants, they're robbing their customers.

Surveillance shows the stick-up team as they hit two Bojangles stores on the same night, just 2 hours apart-- one located on the Plaza, and one at I-85 and Statesville Road.

When they went in, they both drew their guns and went separate directions.

Both were well-disguised, wearing mostly black hoods and pants. One had a white hat, the other had a white mask and red sneakers.

One man found the manager and grabbed him by his hair. He demanded to go to the office safe.

The other crook founds an employee and two customers in the dining room. He tells the employee to join him. Then, he sat down with them as they ate their dinner.

"One of the guys sat down with customers and told them, be calm, we'll take what we want and then we'll be out of here," said CMPD Detective Marty Cuthbertson.

Inside the office, the safe wouldn't open, but the crook spotted a night deposit bag with hundreds of dollars in it.

He also wanted the money from the cash register and made the manager hand that over.

Then, both men disappear in the night, going separate ways.

"One of the strange things about this whole ordeal was they were driving separate cars," said the detective.

"One was driving a green colored Jeep Cherokee and the other was driving a gray Lexus."

If you can help police stop this dining room duo, call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600. There is a reward offered up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
