CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
New documents released on Valentine's Day shed light on the murder of a 17-year-old mother and her unborn child.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, Hawa Gabbidon's body was found in July at Thereasea Clark Elder Park when a group of men used a wooded path to cut through a neighborhood. Police say she was killed around 12:30 a.m.
Gabbidon was found about 50 yards off the roadway. She was a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools student who attended an alternative academy.
One of her last known addresses was a center in Charlotte for at-risk females.
Gabbidon's parents say she was a loving daughter and mother, just a few months away from having her second child.
"Hawa does not deserve to die like that. Hawa is my daughter. I love her," said her mother Monneh Gar.
The newly released warrants show that CMPD detectives asked Facebook and Google for access to Gabbidon's social media and email accounts.
"I know somebody out there that knows something or heard something and we are asking they call the police department," said her father Isaac Parchue.
One of the warrants mentions Gabbidon's relationship with a 22-year-old man. WBTV is not identifying the man because he hasn't been charged with a crime.
According to the warrant, on the day of the murder, Gabbidon told that man she was pregnant. Witness statements and phone records indicate he was the last person to speak with Gabbidon.
The warrant goes on to mention that the man was just a block away at the time of the murder.
In another warrant, detectives mention a second man. According to that document, Gabbidon told a cousin the second man was the father of her unborn baby.
Facebook records show Gabbidon was at the emergency room, concerned with her unborn child a day before she died. She wrote on Facebook, "Sitting in this ER room praying that my unborn baby is okay".
"We're not going to stop until this person is brought to justice," Parchue said.
CMPD detectives tell WBTV they are continuing to follow any leads in the case. No one has been charged in the murder. If you have any information, police ask you to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. You can remain anonymous.
