Health officials are worried cases from a salmonella outbreak traced to a Fayetteville hotel may have spread nationwide.More >>
Officers with the Albemarle Police Department have arrested a man they say is responsible for shooting into an occupied vehicle with the intent to kill.
The incident happened just after noon on February 2, in the South Bell Avenue area of Amhurst Gardens in Albemarle. Officers were called to the area to check on a call for shots fired, but were unable to locate a victim or suspect, the report states.
Upon further investigation, detectives with the Gang and Narcotics Unit were able to determine that there had been a shooting into and occupied vehicle, and warrants were issued for the potential suspect, Otis Eugene Burns, 38, of Dunlap Street.
Burns was arrested on February 9, and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, shooting into an occupied property/vehicle, possession of cocaine, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
He was taken to the Stanly County Jail and placed under a $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to be in court on March 4.
