A Spartanburg man faces increased charges after police said he attacked a Walmart worker while trying to steal from a local store on Wednesday.
Spartanburg police said 32-year-old Jeffrey Haga was at the Dorman Centre Walmart after 5 p.m. when he hid a pair of pants, sunglasses, an antenna adaptor and a knife set under his coat then tried to leave the store without paying for the items.
When the loss prevention worker tried to stop Haga, police said Haga punched the worker in the face and the two continued to fight until officers arrived.
Haga was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and battery and strong arm robbery.
