Major Merger Announcement Today; Chesterfield Shooting

Cam Man Ron Lee is live this morning with new information on a double-shooting that happened outside the courthouse in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.  Investigators say the man shot his ex-girlfriend and her stepfather.

We're looking ahead to an announcement of a major merger that will affect a lot of people in Charlotte.   Later this morning, executives from American Airlines and U-S Airways will announce the companies are merging.  Charlotte is home to U-S Airways largest hub.

For the first time this morning...we hear from the two people allegedly held hostage by ex-cop Christopher Dorner.

The rumors are true...Harris Teeter, which is based in Matthews, is for sale.  The company says it is considering options from two potential buyers.

We have new information on a fire that damaged an apartment in south Charlotte.

Astrid Martinez has an all-new story for the show this morning:  Teens in search of love, friendship or validation may be risking their safety.  It's an important story that every parent needs to see.

It is Valentine's Day...and here in our area and across the nation...students in schools are exchanging Valentine's cards...but not at all schools!  We told you yesterday about a principal at a school in Oregon who told parents not to let their children bring cards or candy to school today.  I went to my Facebook page (John Carter WBTV) and asked you what you thought about that and got some terrific responses.  We'll have some of your reactions this morning.
