WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A Charlotte man has been arrested and faces more than 80 charges in connection to several January thefts that took place at the same time at a storage unit facility, according to officials with the Wilmington Police Department.
In the middle of the night between Jan. 12 and 13, someone entered the Secure Care Self Storage on Market Street in Wilmington and broke into 33 units, stealing property from many of them.
WPD Detectives followed several leads after the break-in, eventually leading them to secure arrest warrants for Jeffrey Lee Roberts, 34, of Charlotte.
U.S. marshals in the Charlotte area tracked down Roberts on Feb. 7 and arrested him. He was served with about 55 warrants covering 88 charges, including numerous breaking and entering and larceny charges.
Roberts is being held in the Mecklenberg County Sheriff's Office jail under a $540,000 bond.
