ASHEVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

Just hours after delivering his State of the Union address, President Barack Obama arrived in North Carolina.

The President landed at the Asheville Regional Airport about 11:25 a.m. then headed to Linamar Corporation where he discussed proposals that focus on making the economy better for the middle class.

During Obama's address Tuesday night, he asked Congress to support his plans to create jobs using federal funds and strengthen the middle class.

Linamar is a manufacturing plant that develops systems for the automotive industry. Both the speaking engagement and the arrival and departure of Air Force One are closed to the public.

This will be the president's fourth visit to the western North Carolina town since he began campaigning for the nation's highest office in 2008.
