A lockdown has been lifted at an elementary school in north Charlotte after a school employee spotted a possible gunman in the woods.
David Cox Road Elementary School went on lockdown at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning, according to a spokeswoman for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. The lockdown was lifted around 12:15 p.m.
The Charlotte-Mecklenurg Police Department says it is investigating a report of a possible armed person in the woods near the school along David Cox Road.
CMS says the custodian spotted what he thought was a person in the woods near the school with a gun.
