Four-year-old Shot In Uptown Charlotte

Good morning to you on this Tuesday, 12 February 2013, from the WBTV News morning team...John Carter reporting to you this morning.

Cam Man Ron Lee is live this morning from Presbyterian Hospital...where a four-year-old is being treated after being shot at an apartment in uptown Charlotte.  Police are saying very little about what happened...Ron is working to get word on whether police have made any arrests and exactly what happened.

North Korea is confirming it has tested a nuclear weapon underground...and that's drawing a stern reaction from the White House this morning.

The President's State of the Union address is tonight...we'll have a preview.  Among the many guests who'll be attending the event...well-known anti-gun control advocate Ted Nugent!

No snow in Charlotte this morning...but they're still digging out of it in the northeast this morning, where up to 40 inches fell in some areas.  We'll be talking live to a man in Hamden, Connecticut...one of the areas that got 40 inches!  He's going to tell us what it's like trying to get around in all that snow...and the tremendous impact it's had on life in the New England States.  You'll be fascinated by what he has to say!

This morning we're hearing from one of the two men charged in what police call the biggest ever bust of a dog fighting ring in Charlotte.

Astrid Martinez has an all-new story for the morning show...on a just-published author...who's only in the 4th grade!  You'll hear her talk about her dreams for the future.

The Boston Celtics came into Charlotte on a seven-game winning streak...taking on the Bobcats last night.  So what happened?  Let's just say the Celtics are going to have to work on starting another winning streak.  We've got game highlights!

    Jessica Bosemiller works at the local YMCA here and her husband is a Charlotte and Cornelius firefighter. The cancer she has is so rare that only about 2,000 people are diagnosed in the United States each year, yet doctors WBTV spoke with Tuesday say there is a concentrated number of cases showing up in this area.

    Wesley Chapel Fire Department battled a residential fire in Union County Tuesday night. Officials say flames were showing upon their arrival. The fire was extinguished within ten minutes, reports stated. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross was called to assist the homeowner.

    Briggs, the dog York County police found with his tongue cut off and tied to a tree, passed away Tuesday night.  Noah's Arks Rescue posted an update on Briggs stating he had become septic and was unable to keep down any food or water from the previous day.
