Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Providence Division arrested a man they believe was involved in a home break-in.
Patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of Skyland Avenue just before 1 a.m. Thursday.
A witness called 911 and said he observed a man pulling on the back window screen of a neighboring home.
When officers arrived, they found a shattered window in the back of the home. They also found a cinderblock underneath the window, appearing to be used for entry into the home. Officers in front of the home observed someone walking around inside the home.
The owner was not home at the time, but was contacted and came to the house. He opened the front door for officers, who found 48-year-old Steven Jeffrey McCree hiding behind a couch in the home.
McCree was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, larceny, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting public officer.
