"Dangerous" storm forecast to affect travelers in Charlotte

Good morning! It's Friday, February 8. Hope you're ready for the day. We put the final touches to the rundown and scripts. Turn us on now to get a look at the headlines people will be talking about this morning. We're on live until 7:00 a.m.

WEATHER/TRAVEL ALERT: Blizzard warnings are already in effect for parts of the northeast right now. Some weather experts describe the impending snowstorm as "dangerous." Meteorologist Al Conklin has been telling us the rain event that came through our area overnight is what the northeast is going to get hit with, in the form of feet of snow! If you're traveling, be aware this could have a huge impact on your flight depending on where you are going! WBTV's Cam Man Ron Lee is live from the Charlotte airport. He's going to let you know whether the airport is ready for the backup caused by the thousands of flights that have already been canceled.

We're reporting on two incidents where guns were found on high school campuses. We'll tell you how Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools handled the student officials say they caught carrying a gun on a local campus.

A bond between a father and their child goes a long way. WBTV's Astrid Martinez will tell us about a special program encouraging those relationships for kids in the Charlotte community.

So much more to cover but I have to go.

See you on the air!

Christine
