CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Charlotte police said they had to tase a woman after she jumped on top of her roommate and started hitting her.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police rolled out to a report of a domestic violence situation in progress at an apartment on Corktree Court in east Charlotte early Thursday morning.

Officers said they found two women in the middle of a fight when they arrived.

When police tried to intervene, they said one of the women jumped on top of the other and started punching her.

Officers had to pull out their tasers, and shock the aggressor to get her off of the victim.

The suspect was checked out by Medics, but because officers didn't have to actually deploy the probes, she was turned over to officers, who promptly took her to the law enforcement center.

She's being charged with assault.

Her roommate was shaken up, but is otherwise okay according to the CMPD.
