Mint Hill Police Officers responded to a call Wednesday about two pit bulls being aggressive towards a horse.
Officers arrived at the scene on Dan Hood Road early Wednesday afternoon to investigate.
Neighbors said they were able to scare away the dogs, but the horse died from an unknown cause.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control was called to help with the investigation, and with locating the dogs.
The dogs have not yet been located. One is white and tan, named Bubba. The other is orange-brown, named Chucky. They were last seen on Dan Hood Road at Idlewild Road.
Officers say a similar incident happened at this location in February 2011. Both dogs involved in that incident were located and given to Animal Care and Control to be euthanized due to a safety concern in the community.
If you have any information about Bubba and Chucky, call the Mint Hill Police at 704-847-5555 or 311.
