PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A funeral service will take place this Sunday, Feb. 10 for Tyrice Thompson.
In the early hours of Jan. 27, Thompson was working at Martini Ranch as a security officer when he and other security staff escorted several people from the bar. A brawl broke out and Thompson was stabbed five times during the fight. Tyrice never regained consciousness.
Last weekend, Thompson's family decided to take him off life support.
Thompson, 27, was a former tight end at ASU.
The funeral service will be held at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Phoenix at 5 p.m.
The family has set up an account in hopes to raise money for funeral services and to set up a trust for Thompson's 1-year-old son, Takai. The account has been set up at Comerica Bank in Tyrice's name.
