A vehicle crash ended in a power pole Wednesday afternoon with a person trapped inside the car.
The incident was reported around 1:30 p.m. at Providence Road and Cedar Lane.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have shut down Providence Road in both directions due to the down power lines and a streetlight.
No word yet on any injuries.
Providence Road is closed in both directions at the scene of the crash.CMPD expect the road to remain closed along the 4600 block for several hours as power crews from Duke Energy work to repair two broken poles.
Video from Sky 3 showed a car into a power pole with a person trapped inside. Firefighters were able to get them out.
Medic transported the patient to Carolinas Medical Center with potentially life threatening injuries.
Duke Energy reports 1,358 outages in the area, including traffic signals. Power is estimated to be restored around 7 p.m.
Providence Road reopened shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday.
