The community foundation run by Tempe-based US Airways has donated $125,000 to the Arizona Opera and to Ballet Arizona to help the groups renovate their facilities.
The Arizona Opera is receiving $75,000 to help in ongoing renovations and construction at its new Phoenix facility. Construction on two new buildings and renovations on a third are ongoing at a location on Central Avenue in Phoenix. The opera plans to consolidate its facilities there.
The Ballet Arizona will use a $50,000 gift US Airways announced Tuesday to help renovate an existing building. The ballet will be able to double the size of its school once the work is done.
The airline's foundation provides grants to nonprofits for building work near its hub cities in Charlotte, N.C., Phoenix, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
