The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced Tuesday: Amtrak train travelers to and from North Carolina destinations can save 15 percent off adult one-way fares on all mid-week (Tuesday-Thursday) trips.
This special, limited-time promotion runs between Tuesday, Feb. 5 and Wednesday, March 27.
The discount is valid on the Piedmont, Carolinian, Palmetto, Crescent, Silver Meteor and Silver Star trains. It also applies to the new Amtrak Thruway bus service to Eastern North Carolina, serving the communities of Greenville, New Bern, Havelock, Morehead City, Goldsboro, Kinston, Jacksonville and Wilmington. The thruway service connects with the Amtrak Palmetto train service at the Amtrak station in Wilson.
Tickets are available for purchase now through March 26. Reservations are required a minimum of one day in advance before traveling. The discounted fare is only valid on coach seats and cannot be used on accommodation upgrades. Tickets are non-refundable, seating is limited and blackout dates apply.
