Deputies uncover high-grade marijuana in hidden basement of house

After conducting an investigation into the distribution of high-grade marijuana into Iredell County, detectives from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant, with the assistance of Alexander County Sheriff's Office, at the home of Adam Robert Jackson, 22, of Hiddenite, North Carolina.

Detectives discovered a large high-grade marijuana growing operation located in a hidden room in Jackson's residence, containing scores of mature plants as well as extensive quantities of dried marijuana packaged to sell.

Normal "street" quality marijuana typically sells for $5.00 per gram; however the type of marijuana Jackson was producing contains higher levels of tetrahydrocannabinol, the primary intoxicant in marijuana, and sells for $25.00 per gram.  Detectives discovered during the course of the investigation that Jackson has been supplying marijuana to numerous sources located throughout multiple counties in the western North Carolina area.

Jackson was charged with Manufacture Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sell/Distribute Marijuana, and Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substance and is being held at the Alexander County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 secured bond.  Other suspects collaborating with Jackson are under continued investigation and additional arrests are anticipated.
