Police said they were called to the Beacon Drive-In after a customer's car was blocking traffic because he was asleep behind the wheel with a burger in his lap.
Spartanburg police said they arrived to find Fred Peace, 40, passed out behind the steering wheel of his Volkswagen Beetle in the Beacon parking lot about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Police said there was a cheeseburger in Peace's lap.
The officer had to shake the car and yell to wake Peace up, got him to put the car in neutral and he pushed the vehicle into a nearby parking spot, police said.
Police said they asked Peace what he was taking and he told them he had two Hydrocodone, two Xanax and a Zoloft pill earlier. Police conducted a field sobriety test and eventually arrested him, charging him with driving under the influence.
