FORT MILL, SC (WBTV) -

A man was arrested Tuesday for stealing items from a local Goodwill store trailer, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.

The arrest came when an officer on patrol on Gold Hill Road saw a truck parked between Goodwill trailers. The officer approached the man, later identified as Richard Dennis, 47.

Dennis told the officer he was homeless, and was in the parking lot to use a port-o-john. The officer asked Dennis about several items in the bed of his truck, which were in plain view, and Dennis denied stealing them, the report states.

After more questions, Dennis finally admitted to taking several items from beside the trailer.

Dennis was arrested, charged with larceny, and taken to the Fort Mill Police Department awaiting transport to the York County Detention Center.
