CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Detectives are conducting a death investigation after two people were found dead in a home in west Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Officers received a call just after 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, from a caller who said she had found two people inside a home on Winchester Street who had suffered from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.

The deceased were identified Wednesday night as Derrick Antoine Teasley, 32, and Shakendra Nicole Covington, 22.

Homicide detectives say they are investigating this as a possible domestic case and are not looking for any suspects at this time. They said that this does not appear to be a random act of violence, and that the deceased knew one another.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit are canvassing the neighborhood to determine whether there are any witnesses to the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective.  Detective Morales is the lead detective assigned to the case.

In addition, you may also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
