CMPD SWAT called in to arrest armed robbery suspect

Members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's SWAT team arrested an armed robbery suspect after police said the man barricaded himself inside a northeast Charlotte apartment complex.

Police were called to the parking lot of the Ulta beauty supply store on J W Clay Blvd Tuesday evening in reference to an armed robbery.

A woman told police she was robbed at gun point and that she followed the suspect in her car to the Colonial Grand apartments on Grove Crest Lane.

Police identified the suspect as 43-year-old Wilburt Lane.

Lane was arrested without incident and was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail on robbery charges. He was placed under a $95,000 bond.

Lane does not have any recent arrests in Charlotte, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Web site.
